John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs he wrote, most of them set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and moved to Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state have drawn many to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declares the fact that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. Denver is the Hall of Fames' initial inductee, was honoured by the honor in 2011. For many, Denver is the image of Colorado. Through my travels I've encountered people who are from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform them you're from Colorado the first words they say are Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads is Denver's only Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working in small Folk Music Groups. The song was composed with Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it with Johnny Cash's music in mind, but Denver was aware from the very first moment he listened to the first versions of the song that it would be a big hit. The song was recorded just a few days following performing at Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
